Join us for a joyful event celebrating Indian culture for a great cause. Experience a peek into the sensation that is Bollywood music and dance. Bollywood is a portmanteau of "Bombay" and "Hollywood," and refers to the Hindi language film industry based in India that continues to make waves both in South Asia and around the globe.
Capacity is limited. Advanced ticket purchase is requested and highly recommended.
This will be a fun-filled, experiential event with:
Bollywood music by DJ Gabrielle Lakshmi
BollyX dance & mini-class by expert instructors
Brunch bites, chai & refreshments
Henna hand art and an Indian bangle bracelet bar (for additional purchase)
Raffle tickets to great local prizes (for additional purchase)
Bring or wear comfortable dancing shoes, as certified BollyX® dance instructors will showcase high-energy Bollywood moves, and all will be invited to join in the fun to learn how to dance like a movie star! Learn more about BollyX here.
Meet your ExtraordiNari community locally and help us lift up communities across the globe. Through donors and event participants like you, we are supporting girls and women in India with access to education, health resources, and connections that empower brighter futures and build communities.
Our current projects:
Financial support: $100 covers tuition, books, and uniform for one girl for one school year. Help us meet (or exceed!) our commitment to pay a girl's way to school for at least 50 of the community's most vulnerable girls per year.
Infrastructure: we are rebuilding damaged restrooms at our partner school in Uttarakhand, and are scoping additional improvements like building a library.
Educational programming: we are scoping 2 highly requested improvements by students, staff, and parents -- English language education and supporting the expansion of our partner school's grade level offering beyond 8th grade.
Tackling period poverty: we partner with sustainable period care brand, Nora, to distribute washable sanitary pad kits to girls to help equip them to go to school all month long.
