The Crime of Genocide - A Panel Discussion

2 E 79th St, New York, NY 10075, USA

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18 at 5 PM

Registration starts at 4:30 PM

Russia's brutal war against Ukraine has been characterized by numerous violations of international law. Legal scholars have recently considered the crime of genocide and the destruction of cultural heritage in the context of the war against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Institute of America and National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" have convened a distinguished panel of international law experts and NGO representatives to discuss the legal questions as well as specific acts of destruction of culture and heritage preservation. The discussion is particularly timely and poignant given the 75th anniversary of the Genocide Convention, the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Ukrainian Institute and the Holodomor commemoration earlier in the day at St. Patrick's Cathedral, on the 90th anniversary of the genocide. The subject is of interest to lay people and to lawyers, as the brutality continues and public international law evolves.
