Camp Orientation
April 25, 26, 27 / Doors at 7:30 / Show at 8pm
Performed by Kendra Ferguson & Juice Ried
Get ready for Camp Orientation at Camp KinZ—a summer camp that has been through more than its fair share of ups, downs, and bear-related lawsuits. Director Randy (Kendra Ferguson) is hanging on by a thread, trying to keep his beloved camp afloat after financial collapse and the messy fallout from last year's incidents. Enter Counselor Juicykinz (Juice Ried), a well-meaning (but totally unpredictable) trust-fund bro who is trying to save the camp in the only way he knows—by embracing complete and utter chaos.
Welcome to Camp KinZ where Juicykinz’s antics, paired with Randy’s dad-like energy and increasing stress, lead to an unforgettable orientation. Witness survival skills and camp songs with this roller skating clown duo Get ready to show off those survival skills, sing your heart out around the campfire, and remember: ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD FIGHTS THIS YEAR.
Pack your knapsacks and gear up for this year’s Camp Orientation at Camp KinZ! Don’t forget to bring your fanny packs, single-ply toilet paper, and your spirit of adventure. Extra community service hours awarded to those who dress up ready for camp!
Kendra Ferguson (she/her) and Juice Ried (they/them) first met twirling around on roller skates in Golden Gate Park in 2020. They discovered these characters a few years later while gallivanting through the Yosemite Valley. By the end of a long weekend filled with play, they had led their goofball friends through a talent show, a safety training, and hours of conspiracy theories about racoons. They took those characters and refined them into the ones you will see at Camp Orientation. This show is an homage to the freedom of committing to the bit completely–something that only becomes fully accessible in nature.
Kendra Ferguson (she/her) is a Roller Skating Clown! A Bay Area native with a professional background in Mental Health, she discovered Church of Clown in 2023 and has never looked back. She has subsequently written and performed an original solo show (Just Be Happy), became a full time professional performer, and found peace in the transition from being a steward of trauma to a steward of delight.
Juice Ried (they/them) is an Oakland-based DJ and movement enthusiast (dance, fire-spinning, burlesque, and more). They have always enjoyed physical comedy but discovered a kinship with it from their years of attending music festivals and interacting with the performers there.
All Church of Clown events are NOTAFLOF. Please email Sierra at programs@churchofclown.org for questions about volunteering, work trade, or scholarships.
