Join us at Clark Gardens for a hands-on Intro to Quilting class, using the English Paper Piecing technique, lead by local seamstress educator - Loree Ellis.
English paper piecing is a quilting technique that traces its first noted origins to the 1770s in England, giving it's name. This method of quilting must be done entirely by hand, making it a great project for quilting on the go. A traditional method of hand sewing pieces together that hold their shape by being secured to paper pieces using either glue or thread. Once the quilt top is finished, papers are removed.
During the class participants will make their own unique palm -size hexagon "quilt block". After the class we hope you are inspired to continue what you learned and complete an English Paper Piecing quilt. If that sounds daunting or far fetched no worries we have other ideas of how your hexagon "quilt block" can be used . . . perhaps as a coaster or if you attended the class with a group of friends combine everyone's hexagons to create something special, maybe a small friendship throw pillow.
This class is best suited for those ages 10 and up.
