Now through Thursday, December 26, HatchSpace invites you to place a bid on a chance to Name a Tool for the year in honor of your favorite maker, HatchSpace member, instructor, staffer, or another namesake worthy of gracing our HatchSpace Tools. From jointers, bandsaws, and router tables, to coping saws, hand planes and chisels, there’s something for everyone! Auction will close on Thursday, December 26 at midnight. Place your bid today!

Our largest and loveliest workbench, made by HatchSpace founder Tom Bodett from recycled gluelam timbers. The hold downs hold, the vice is wicked tight and it is SOLID. Well place wheels mean it can be tilted and moved by one extremely strong or 3 regular people. The center of our benchroom, we wish we had a few more!

3HP 12" Delta DJ-30 Jointer (Pro-Shop)

The jointer is the start to straight, flat projects and learning to use it well is the key to all machine process that follow. The value of a jointer is in the width of its cutter head and the length and mass of its bed. This gorgeous utilitarian grey Delta from the 80s has all three in spades! And a helical cutterhead to boot. Maybe Rowan's favorite machine in the shop?

CEMCO 1000 42" Wide Belt Sander (Pro Shop)

They call it the Cemco 1000, but this one was made in the year 2000. Most cabinetmakers would just call it the Timesaver, the Kleenex like catchall for all wide belt drum sanders. Maybe this one saved 1000 years? 26.5 horsepower. Yikes. One of the many tools we offer far below their cost to operate--a single sanding belt runs upwards of $100. And this old soldier is in need of a replacement conveyor belt.

Delta 28-640 20" Bandsaw (Pro-Shop)

Behold, the mighty Delta 28-640 20" Bandsaw. We leave it set up for resawing, with a 158 X 3/4" 3 TPI blade. With those big 20" wheels, this saw can slice through a 12" board like a steel wire through a block of Grafton cheddar.
