You'll explore a process of drawing and painting in oil or acrylic that informs how you see value, form, and color in the beautiful gardens and architecture of Colerain Forges Mansion.  Skills will be offered in the basics of drawing: how to see and represent shapes in dark and light values to create a strong composition. Then using paint, learn how to transfer the composition with a first layer of underpainting onto the canvas, mix and blend colors, use brush techniques, apply and blend paint to provide a rich and varied surface of color and texture onto the canvas and finally, understand when your painting is finished. We will make small quick studies in paint and one larger sized canvas to take home. Lynn will offer demonstrations in drawing and painting and she will work with each person individually on their drawings and paintings.
