To this day, The Lamrim or Stages of the Path to Enlightenment is associated with Atisha’s famous eleventh century text written during his stay in Tibet. It presents the entire path taught by the Buddha.
It was later explained in depth by the great Tibetan master, Lama Tsongkhapa. Far from being a mere collection of Buddhist teaching, it consists in an ordered and detailed sequence of the stages of meditation necessary to obtain enlightenment.
Many great masters have written Lamrims, and they have always based themselves on Atisha’s text while adapting their work to the cultural context of their time. Lama Samten is no exception to this rule. This particular Lamrim has been adapted to respond to the needs of those among us who want to obtain enlightenment in this day and age. It has been written specifically to facilitate our understanding of the Lamrim.
It is recommended that the student receive the oral instructions of a qualified guide to truly benefit from reading this book.
