ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic on Alpine in Stockton, CA was established in 2009 with this mission:
To end the number of unwanted companion animals that are abandoned and euthanized in our central valley area by providing low cost, high quality spay and neuter surgeries.
ACT has established programs to support the mission:
1) Low Cost Veterinary Services: spay/neuter, basic vaccinations, FELV/FIV testing for cats & heartworm testing for dogs
2) Feral Cat Trap Depot & T/N/R Education – ACT has humane cat traps for Trap/Neuter/Return, educational materials, “how to” videos, monthly T/N/R training workshops
In the past 15 years the clinic has performed over 90,000 surgeries in support of our mission. Act's reputation for low cost affordable Spay/Neuter surgery is unsurpassed.
The Spay/Neuter Clinic has been operating at capacity for the past five years. We are now in a situation where our clients are having to schedule out 8-12 weeks to have surgery take place, which can be inconvenient for pet guardians and is unfortunately too long from the time an owner first notices their pet is in heat. This is adding to the timeline for animals to reproduce when no other feasible options are available.
We believe the solution is to raise funds to purchase a new facility with the square footage to accommodate two veterinary teams at the ready each day.
A building in the 6,000 to 10,000 square foot range in Stockton runs one million dollars or slightly more. There would also be a need for construction/remodeling a building to fit our needs, and a second set of surgical equipment, for which we anticipate receiving a Humane Alliance grant. We have a building fund of $240,000 at this time, and have qualified with a local bank for a $500,000 loan. With generous donations adding up to $500,000, we would be able to buy a building where payments would not be much more than our current rent.
