This Giving Tuesday, we’re rallying together to ensure that Everyone Has a Seat at the Table—a table where community members have access to the resources, guidance, and advocacy they need to thrive.
At Common Good Community, we believe that strong, resilient communities are built when individuals and families are empowered to take charge of their health and wellness. Our Coordinated Care Companions program does exactly that:
Ms. C's Testimony:
"Back in July, I was at my lowest point. A friend handed me a flyer from Common Good Community at a local event, and I thought, 'What do I have to lose?' I reached out, hoping for a lifeline—and I got so much more."
Ms. C had been struggling with loneliness, depression, and the grief of losing her daughter to a drug overdose. Health challenges and an addiction to pain medication made things even harder. Estranged from family and feeling utterly worn out, Ms. C doubted she had the strength to turn things around. Despite everything, she held onto a dream—her degree in journalism and the hope of putting it to use.
That’s when Common Good Community stepped in. Through the compassionate guidance of Coordinated Care Companions, Ms. C was introduced to vital resources and support programs. She was connected to Legal Services of Northern California for housing assistance and Stay Out Solutions for employment help. At an Anthem Health One Stop event hosted at Valley High School Health TECH, Ms. C attended a healthy eating demo and enjoyed a delicious spaghetti meal with ground turkey, instead of ground beef, prepared by CHW interns, which sparked her interest in wellness.
With consistent support, regular check-ins, and the encouragement she needed, Ms. C began to thrive. She found her footing and regained her confidence. Today, Ms. C is vibrant, energized, and full of hope. She achieved her academic goals at Sacramento State and recently landed a journalism job with the local newspaper.
"Common Good Community didn’t just help me find housing or connect me to programs—they reminded me of my own worth and potential. They empowered me to reclaim my life, and for that, I am forever grateful."
Ms. C’s story is a testament to the power of engagement, education, equipping, and empowerment. Through partnership and compassion, Common Good Community helps ensure that Everyone Has a Seat at the Table.
