Omak lake outing from April 24 to 27th and Chopaka lake from April 27 to 30. You do not have to do both, you can do one or the other, your choice. Omak Lake Outing When: April 24-27Fish Species: Lahontin Cutthroat TroutEquipment:Rods: 4 – 7 weightsFlies:  Articulated bunny leech Pumpkin Head Holo Worm from Phil Rowley Dali Lama in olive/white Sculpzilla Smoke and Mirror Streamer olive Lines: floating and sinking or intermediate We often strip leeches in the AMand use a floating line with indicator for balanced leeches or chironomidslater. Boat: A Pontoon boat can be a nice addition but this is Eastern Washington andif the wind comes up it can be a liability. Most people fish from shore.The steep shoreline in some places makes an effective roll cast mostimportant as there is often insufficient room for a clean back cast.Accommodations: The Okanogan Fair Grounds has a space for us in their full hook up RVarea down by the trees. Tents are allowed for $15 and full hookup is $30.Make your reservation online or just call them and mention that you arepart of our club. Do not just show up! There are also several hotelaccommodations in the area including the 12 Tribes Casino. It can getcold then so tent heaters are in order. If I remember correctly cellcoverage is pretty good there. Meals: On Friday, April 28 we will have a no host group dinner at either aMexican restaurant in the area or at Loggers in the 12 tribes casino.Prices seem the same for both. Otherwise we sort of text each other tosee where they are eating. The key is that no one should feel obligatedto eat together as a group every night but we don’t want anyone to feelexcluded either. Directions: Leave Omak on Highway 155 toward Nespelem. Cross a small bridge(Omak Creek) and immediately turn right on Columbia River Road. Onceyou see the lake there is a dirt road turn off that in 8 miles takes you down to one of the two areas to fish depending on the wind and howbusy it is. (Nicholson Beach also known as Beer Can Beach) If youcontinue on along the lake on Columbia River Road you will see anotherturn off at about 11 miles and turn on Omak Lake Road which takes youto the South end of the lake. The beach is evident from the road. There isa closed area along the southern shore but it is clearly marked. PLEASE NOTE: It is the responsibility of each club member and their guests to be prepared for thefishing outing by having the proper equipment for camping and boating, including personalflotation devices if you are in a pontoon boat. It is also the responsibility of everymember/guest to know the rules and regulations. If you don’t know, please don’t hesitate toask as members will be very willing to help.Please feel free to invite a guest but please remember to download and give a copy of the HoldHarmless Agreement from our website to the Outing Sponsor (in this case Bob Jorgenson). It isimportant for the continued legal well being of our club.Because opening day at Chopaka is on Saturday the 26 th some may want to move to Chopakaon Sunday to fish there. It could be busy but hopefully people will leave Sunday making roomfor us?Lake Chopaka Outing (Omak Lake Extension) When: April 27-?Fish Species: Rainbow Trout &amp; TriploidsEquipment:Rods: 5 – 7 weightsFlies: Streamers, flesh flies, chironomids (see sample box)Lines: floating, sink tip &amp; sinking (All three preferred as there will be different hatches, but chances are you will catch fish on any line. Boat: Although you can fish from shore at this lake, a boat, float tube orpontoon boat of some sort is recommended. There are no motors of anykind allowed on the lake. Two rods are allowed if you have added thatendorsement to your license. Accomodations: There is a campground at the lake. Most members will be camping. Thecampground is somewhat primitive. Outhouses and running water areavailable at the campground. The last 5 miles plus of driving is on a steepand sometimes rough logging road. Some people do bring smaller RVs infor their accommodations. This is opening weekend and it could besomewhat crowded until anglers leave Sunday afternoon.Hotel accommodations are available at Tonasket (about 1 hour from thelake) and Omak (about 2 hours from the lake). Meals: You are on your own but it is always nice to gather for refreshments at one camp or the other after a day of fishing. Directions: North of Omak on 97 ………… 2 miles out of Tonasket you will turn left atwhere there is a sign to Lake Chopaka. Coming up to this turn you willsee the long narrow logging road going up the side of the mountain.About 2 miles after you turn off of the main highway you will make aswitchback turn to your right to start the trek up the logging road. It willtake about 30 minutes from this point to reach camp. At the first Y youcome to, stay left. Stay on the main road until the next Y and you will goright. It will be about another 2 miles into camp from this point. PLEASE NOTE:  As a participant in a club outing you are expected to have a personal flotation devicewhile on the water.  If you host a guest be sure to have them complete the liability release and leave it withthe trip leader before fishing. It is the responsibility of each club member and guest to be prepared with a license, andappropriate camping equipment suitable for possible inclement weather. It has snowedat Chopaka on opening weekend in the past.
